LLMs
We are not asking you to marry a brain. We are asking for a client that can call tools and wait for your yes. Claude, Claude Code, Claude Desktop and Grok Bot are native. Cursor and the others that speak MCP can sit at the table. Whoever invents lots in chat stays out.
The course stays yours
Marks belong to their owners: they name models and clients, they do not imply a partnership. Gold = native (Claude, Claude Code, Claude Desktop, Grok Bot). Grey = speaks tools. Amber = with friction. A naked chat stays off.
The LLM can propose. The skill decides whether the thesis exists. The engine numbers. You hold the yes. The broker executes. Four roles. Only one is the model — and it is not Helmsman.
Putting Claude or GPT on a landing page is an afternoon of CSS. Getting that brain to call scan_market, see a preview with size and stop, wait for your yes, and only then talk to the broker — that is a craft. Helmsman exists because models are good at talking and terrible at sizing.
Paste a chat onto a live account and you open naked while calling the mess «AI trading». Helmsman does not pretend the world is one brain API. Every client carries its own grammar: how tools are invoked, how the preview is shown, how the human yes is held. You stay captain. The model stays a guest. We lengthen the bridge — and only if that brain can wait.
In code today: Claude (Anthropic), Claude Code and Claude Desktop (MCP) are native — wired, tested, working. Grok Bot (xAI) self-configures in chat on Helmsman v1: the same veto, no MCP to screw in by hand. A local SaaS bridge comes later — not this slide. Cursor is a client that can seat Claude, GPT or another tool-capable model. GPT (OpenAI) wires. Gemini, Grok (the model), Mistral, Ollama: integrable, with friction — tool-calling is not a birthright. A naked chat, an autopilot, a channel that «would tell you what to do»: they stay off the slide.

The client is where you type. The model is who proposes. Helmsman is the pipe in between. Confuse the three and you sign a thesis you did not read.
CLIENT · THE TABLE
Claude Code, Claude Desktop, Grok Bot, Cursor. The place you ask for a scan, read the preview, say yes or no. Without a client that speaks tools, Helmsman is a repo. With a client that fires alone, Helmsman closes the pipe.
MODEL · THE GUEST
Claude, GPT, Gemini, Grok, Mistral, a local weight. It can read context. It can hallucinate a ticker. It can treat an «almost» as a yes. That is why it does not number lots and does not touch the broker. It proposes. Then it is quiet.
The model vendor (Anthropic, OpenAI, Google, xAI, Mistral, the weight on Ollama) is not Helmsman. If that vendor dies, the bridge does not flatten your book for you. See the Disclaimer.
Four moves. The model sits only in the first. Skip the second, the third or the fourth and you are not using Helmsman. You are using a chat with an account attached.
Asks for the scan, reads context, may suggest a thesis. It does not compute lots. It does not pick the stop. If it invents a name, the skill says no.
The skill answers with a bool. The risk engine writes size and stop on your account. Stale data, a rule that does not fire, a naked market: the pipe closes.
You see symbol, side, size, stop, target. Without confirm the order does not exist. If size moved in the meantime, it stops. You are captain.
The final executor is the venue on your account. Alpaca, Tradier, IG, IBKR — or the next honest adapter. Not the model. Not Helmsman.
VETO ON THE MODEL
Helmsman does not «align» the model. It cages it. Four noes we do not negotiate, whatever the mark on the tile.
Size and stops come from the risk engine. A chat that «feels» 200 shares of SLV is a bug, not a feature.
Without your yes the pipe is closed. Autopilot is not in the queue. It is the opposite of the product.
The skill is a bool. If it does not fire, no preview is born. The LLM cannot «force» a thesis the tape does not have.
Even if the model is sure. Cover or nothing. The order class is spoken by the adapter, not by prose.
Helmsman was born on Claude Code: tools, a session, human confirm, the same table. That is not an endorsement. It is a fact of grammar. The veto was written against a model that can call functions and can (if you force it) wait.
Grok Bot is native another way: it self-configures in chat on v1. It is not MCP to screw in. It is not Grok-the-model, which stays in the friction queue. A local app that bridges SaaS comes later. Not this slide, and not a reason to call it a partner.
Cursor is the compatible table because it does the same thing: agent, MCP, a model that can be Claude or GPT. The bridge does not change. Who sits does. GPT wires because the tool-calling is there. Gemini, Grok, Mistral, a Llama on Ollama: the craft is the same, the discipline is not. That is why they sit in the friction queue, not under an «AI-ready» sticker.
If your client does not expose tools, there is no Helmsman. There is a conversation. Conversations do not open covered positions.
TIER A
Gold = the tables and the model the bridge was written against. Claude Code, Claude Desktop, Claude, Grok Bot. Paper, preview, human yes. Not an Anthropic or xAI partnership.
The table Helmsman was born on. Tools, human confirm, scan and preview in one session. Not a plugin: the bridge you speak.
Anthropic. Sonnet and Opus. It can call tools and wait for the yes. The LLM the veto was written against. It can hallucinate. It does not sign the order.
The same model, another table. MCP into Helmsman: wired, tested, working. Not to build. It is already the bridge.
xAI. It self-configures in chat on Helmsman v1: no MCP to screw in by hand. The yes stays yours. A local SaaS bridge comes later — not this slide.
TIER B
Cursor is already a table. GPT fits: tool-calling, the same veto, still to wire. It is not Claude Desktop. It does not have to become it.
Agent plus MCP. It can seat Claude, GPT or another tool-capable model. Helmsman is not «inside Cursor»: Cursor talks to the bridge.
OpenAI. Real tool-calling, via Cursor or MCP. It is not Claude: different grammar, same veto. Size and stops stay with the engine, not the chat.
TIER C
Gemini, Grok (the model), Mistral, Ollama. The client must expose tools and impose the wait. If the local weight cannot call a function, it stays an expensive chat.
Google. Tool-calling in stretches. It can sit if the client exposes it. Not native: the veto must get tighter, not looser.
xAI, the model. It is not Grok Bot: that is the table. This weight enters only if the client gives it tools and makes it wait for the yes. Without tools it is a chat.
EU, open-weight, tool-calling to prove on the client. Integrable if it can wait. Not a continental brochure logo.
Models on the machine. No network to the vendor. Tool-calling and the discipline of yes depend on the weight you load. Not offline magic.
CLAUDE CODE · DESKTOP
Code in session, Desktop via MCP: the same model, two chairs, the bridge already wired and tested. If you already use Claude, we are not asking for another brain. We are asking for the yes on the line.
GROK BOT · CHAT
xAI, in chat, on v1: no MCP file to screw in. The yes stays yours. A local SaaS bridge comes later. It is not Grok-the-model. It is not a partnership.
CURSOR · MCP
Cursor can seat Claude or GPT. Helmsman does not live «inside» the editor. The editor calls the bridge. If the editor fires alone, the bridge says no.
LOCAL · OLLAMA
A weight on the machine is not more honest than Claude. It is closer. Tool-calling must be proven, not assumed. If the local model does not wait for the yes, it is a bot. Bots do not pass.
Helmsman does not certify brains and does not sell a «partner model». If tool-calling is missing, or if the craft is firing while you sleep, the name does not run on the marquee.
On the pre-registration, name the client you already use — Claude Code, Claude Desktop, Grok Bot, Cursor, other — and, if you want, the model. It is not a pitch to switch brains. It is the queue: whoever sits on GPT or a local weight tells us where to lengthen the bridge after the native tables.
Your yes stays the same. Only who proposes the thesis changes — and only if that who speaks tools. That is the only invariant we are selling you on the model side. On the venue side, the map is the other shore.
